Where is Eifel?
The land that is bordered to the South by the Mosel. to the East by the Middle Rhine, to the North by the lower Rhine Bight between Cologne and Aachen, to the West by the Belgian and Luxemburgish borders between Aachen and Trier, that is Eifel. Together with its sibling mountains, the Ardennes, in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, it comprises the "Green Heart of Europe".

What is the climate like in Eifel?
Eifel has a warm temperate, oceanic climate. The concurrence of warm and cold bodies of air leads to rapid alternations between rain and sunshine.

What does Eifel look like?
Because it is scarcely populated and has great geological variety, large parts of the land are used for varied agricultural and forestry purposes. The landscape is marked by many small rivers, brooks, valleys, volcanos, maars, hilltops, quarries and dams. In the north there are extensive pine forests. In the south leas and meadows dominate the scenery. Alongside these intensively used expanses there is also a series of relatively uncultivated areas, amongst these gorse moorlands, marshlands, bogs, dry grasslands and hedges. Due to a regular alternation between woodland, field and meadowlands, cragged mountains and gently rolling hills Eifel offers many possibilities for relaxation and recuperation in nature.

What towns are there in Eifel?
Eifel is home to not a single city, not even the beginnings of a city. The towns which are situated there are called Bitburg, Daun, Gerolstadt, Mayen, Monschau, Prüm, Bad Münstereifel, Schleiden-Gemünd. Of course there are other small towns, but like those above they are rather small towns. It is overwhelmingly small villages and hamlets which characterise this landscape.

What historical buildings does Eifel have to offer?
Many. More than in all the rest of the Middle Rhine. The visitor is greeted with a diverse treasure trove of castles, palaces, cloisters and churches. Through their buildings the villages and small towns have maintained and restored a charm which is worth seeing.
