A report of Nicole Wensch: Eifel enjoyment and the finest sort of hospitality Eifel hospitality – this is what the more than 140-year-old inn owned by the Herrig family stands for in the small farming village of Meckel, located between Bitburg and Trier. The current owner is Thomas Herrig, a qualified chef, who spoils the palates of his guests with typical regional dishes made from Eifel products and whose cooking skills are known far beyond the borders of Eifel. The menu includes sophisticated dishes such as Clear Broth from the Eifel cow, with home-made bone-marrow dumplings, chopped steaks from the Eifel lamb, filled with softly melting Liersertal goat’s cheese, and pork fillet from the Eifel pig. |
